Fantastic Places To Eat in Keswick

Keswick has a great food and drinks scene. Whether you're looking for hearty pub fare, fine dining, or local specialties, Keswick has something for everyone. If you’re feeling spoilt for choice and aren’t sure where to go for your dinner, don’t worry! We’ve come up with a list of a few of our favourite places to eat in Keswick that we’re sure you’re going to love.

The Chalet

The Chalet Tearooms and Resturant is located in Portinscale, just outside Keswick. Ramblers, cyclists and dogs are all welcome and this is an excellent post-activity venue to replenish your energy levels. They have everything from tasty full cumbrian breakfast to pizza and much more. They are also fully licenced and sell beer and wine. We recommend the hot chocolate with rum and whipped cream after a long walk around Derwentwater or a hike over Catbells. A perfect stop on a day out or a destination for a shorter walk. 


The Wild Strawberry

This pattisserie has made its home in one of Keswick’s oldest buildings and serves up delicious traditional afternoon teas, handmade patisserie and cakes, crêpes, savoury pastries, deli-sandwiches and salads. 

At the lovely Wild Strawberry, you’ll find delicious hand made afternoon teas and patisseries, in a historic and characterful building.


The Bench Cafe at Fultons

The Bench Cafe at the front to the Fulton's Jewellery Works is named after the specially shaped bench a Master Jeweller uses to perfect your favourite pieces of fine jewellery. They have curated a luxurious and beautiful selection of artisan coffees, specialty teas, locally crafted chocolates and delicious vegetarian and plant based temptations for you to enjoy. 

Fulton's are a family run business that has been making fine jewellery for over 30 years, all of which is handcrafted in their Keswick workshop. The beautiful surroundings are a constant source of inspiration and influence in their work.


Bassenthwaite Lake Station

Winners of the Cumbria Tourism Awards 2023 Accessible and Inclusive award, and Silver for the Visit England 2023 Awards for Excellence, Bassenthwaite Lake Station is a sought after cafe in a unique setting. You can eat in the restored former station or the replica Orient Express train. The food wont disappoint either, though with the numerous awards and positive press reviews its worth booking ahead. They serve breakfasts, lunches and popular afternoon teas.


Cafe Hope

Cafe Hope is a great option when you're visiting the crazy golf or other family friendly activities nearby, with home cooked food and local ice cream its a great option. And new for this year they have their new VIPODS, transparent domes with great views where you can enjoy afternoon tea, whatever the weather. 


Cafe HNW

Cafe HNW is a popular, cycle friendly cafe situated in Upper Fitz Park. As well as enjoying their fabulous coffees, ice creams and churros, you can hire the equipment to use the bowling green, grass tennis courts, and 18 hole putting green. A great, active option for the whole family. 


Brossen Steak House

Brossen Steak House is an award winning resturant with local steaks and some excellent homecooked sides and is a local favourite. From juicy ribeye to tender chops, oak smoked rump, juicy fillets, to the ultimate chateaubriand. Everything is cooked exactly to your taste and grilled to perfection. Top your plate off in this Keswick restaurant with their seasonal selection of side dishes.


Lingholm Kitchen and Walled Garden

Located on the edge of Derwentwater, Lingholm Kitchen is a beautiful cafe and with their own bakery you know their cakes and afternoon teas are going to be great. A good choice for after a walk or before exploring the walled garden, based on the origional in the same location which inspired Beatrix Potter's Mr McGregor's garden.


Bistro at The Distillery

Set in the popular Lakes Distillery, in a former Victorian farmstead's cattle parlour, the Bistro at The Distillery offers everything from a three-course meal, to afternoon tea, to a slice of cake and a coffee - you can even eat outside in the courtyard or garden!

Using only the freshest ingredients, Bistro at The Distillery has a menu which changes with the seasons. They serve from 11am - 5pm and Sundays include their famous Sunday lunch. 


Mizu Pan-Asian Cuisine

Mizu Pan-Asian Cuisine is located at the four-star Lodore Falls Hotel in the beautiful Borrowdale valley. Offering a selection of tempting Japanese, Korean, Malaysian and Thai specialities, from the freshest ingredients, expertly prepared by highly skilled chefs. There’s something for everyone, from classic Japanese nori-wrapped maki sushi to fragrant Thai-style curries.


Keswick offers a great selection of food and drink options, from cosy cafes and traditional pubs to fine dining restaurants and distilleries. With a focus on locally sourced ingredients and traditional Cumbrian dishes, the food scene in Keswick is not to be missed.
