Fornside Farm Cottages enjoy a stunning location at the foot of the Helvellyn range surrounded by dramatic Lakeland scenery.
We have 4 cottages beautifully converted from stone barns alongside the traditional farmhouse. They provide spacious accommodation of a very high standard retaining many original features and using a range of eco-friendly measures, including ground source heating and solar panels. Well equipped, warm and welcoming with underfloor heating downstairs and wood burning stoves. Situated in stunning rural St. John's-in-the-Vale just outside Keswick, each cottage offers a delightful place to rest, recharge and prepare for your next adventure!
The Old Byre - A traditional self catering cottage in the Lake District sleeping 4 people. Bedrooms: 2, Bathrooms: 1
Herdwick Fold - A self catering cottage converted from a bank-barn sleeping 4 people. Bedrooms: 2 Bathrooms: 1
Swaledale Garth - A traditional self catering cottage in the Lake District sleeping 6 people. Bedrooms: 3 Bathrooms: 1 Shower rooms: 1
Rigg Barn - A self catering cottage converted from a detached barn, sleeping 6 people. Bedrooms: 3 Bathrooms: 1 Shower rooms: 1
Fornside Farm is a typical 17th century Lakeland hill farm, set back from the road with direct, private access to the fells. We have 60 acres of beautiful farmland with spectacular views. The farm is predominantly for sheep but we also have free range hens, ducks and geese as well as bees and pigs. We have a private farm trail for you enjoy exploring our woods, fields, streams, wildlife and fantastic views. St John's in the Vale is a stunning, peaceful and unspoilt valley, just south-east of Keswick and within easy reach of the tranquil lakes of Derwentwater and Thirlmere. You can 'bag' a dozen Wainwrights directly from the farm, or just stay put and enjoy the feeling of being away from it all, nestled in the stunning hills with beautiful views everywhere you look.
We have an electric car charging facility (PodPoint). We do not accept bookings of 3 or more cottages without prior agreement. We do accept dogs in two of our cottages; conditions apply.
