Royal Ascot Ladies Day Returns To The Inn On The Lake And Raises £1,656 For Cumbrian Children’s Hospice

After a long anticipated 4-year hiatus, Lake District Hotels’ glamorous Royal Ascot Ladies Race Day returned home to the Inn on the Lake on Thursday 22nd June as ladies donned their finest frocks and dazzling hats for a royal afternoon of entertainment. The event last run in 2019 at the Lodore Falls Hotel & Spa, before the event was temporarily halted by the pandemic.

As the sun shone down on the idyllic lakeside setting, guests gathered on the hotel’s glorious new outdoor terrace from 12pm to enjoy a sumptuous Pimm’s cocktail and array of canapes against a backdrop of Ullswater lake.

After a sunny welcome, guests were invited into the Lake View Restaurant where two large-scale television screens had been set up so they could watch the races through a live stream, complemented by a full sound system. All who attended were able to get involved with the excitement and put their bets on with ‘fun money’ which could be bought from the event’s bookies.

Those with the most ‘fun money’ at the end of the day could later exchange their winnings for one of the amazing prizes, including a tablet donated by LCR Systems Ltd, a Champagne Afternoon Tea for two at the Inn on the Lake and a luxury hamper from Pioneer Foodservices.

Once seated, the talented Glen Anderson entertained the ladies and gentlemen throughout a delicious 3-course meal with his array of feel-good tunes.

Gary Wilson, General Manager commented, “It was a privilege to once again host this incredible event at the Inn on the Lake after 5 years! All the ladies (and two gentlemen) who attended looked fantastic and we received excellent feedback on the day. A big thank you goes out to all the management and staff who helped make the day a success.”

The glitzy event raised an incredible total of £1,656 for Jigsaw, Cumbria’s Children’s Hospice, Lake District Hotels’ current Charity of the Year. All funds raised from the sale of ‘fun money’ and raffle tickets were donated to the incredible cause.

“We are so grateful for Lake District Hotels’ ongoing support by organising wonderful events like this in aid of the children and young adults from Cumbria that access our services” said Martha Pardoe, Relationship Fundraiser from Jigsaw. “This event was extra special, as it fell within Children’s Hospice Week - a week where we celebrate Jigsaw and all it does for local young people with life limiting illnesses along with their families.”

In addition to the suppliers who provided prizes for our winners, the event was also kindly supported by Fluid Productions, Heatons, Ullswater Steamers, the Lakes Distillery, Grapevine, Caterite, Alliance, Edmundson’s, City Electrical Factors (CEF), M&K Builders Ltd, Gallery Direct, Coniston Corporate and Wainwright’s Ale who all donated raffle prizes.

So far, Lake District Hotels have raised over £6,000 for Jigsaw, Cumbria’s Children’s Hospice and continue to do so. Anyone who wishes to support this important local cause is encouraged to donate via the group’s JustGiving page https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/lake-district-hotels-jigsaw

The Inn on the Lake is also hosting an exciting Tapas and Sangria on the Terrace event on Sunday 16th July, where guests can soak up the atmosphere of the newly reimagined outdoor space whilst enjoying an array of small plates, an hour of bottomless sangria and live music for £35 per person.
