CALVERT STABLES LAUNCH FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN FOR NEWEST HERD MEMBER
On Sunday 31 August, staff from Keswick’s much loved Calvert Stables will undertake a ‘trap push’ from Keswick to Threlkeld and back again on the old railway line. Stables Manager, Lou Hogan along with Becky, Rosie, Abbie and some willing volunteers have set themselves this challenge as part of fundraising efforts to raise money for a new ‘ride and drive’ horse to join the 12-strong team at Calvert Stables.
Leaving at 10.30am sharp from Keswick Station, the team will take it in turns in pairs to push the 110kg trap along the 10 km route. When not on trap duty, the horse-lovers will be shaking their collection boxes hard to encourage Sunday ramblers to part with their pennies in aid of this very worthy cause. The end goal is to raise £10,000 to fund and welcome the newest stable member sometime in 2026.
Stables Manager, Lou Hogan commented:
“This is just the first in a number of events that we have planned over the coming 12 months and we’re very much hoping that local Keswickians and Calvert Stables fans further afield will perhaps consider making a donation online via our website, putting a few pennies in our collection boxes or just join us for a Sunday walk out and lend some moral support!”
Situated on the outskirts of Keswick, Calvert Stables is a British Horse Society and Riding for the Disabled Association-approved riding centre. The dedicated team of six provide accessible riding and trap driving for residential and community riders and have found that horses (and instructors) provide a little bit of magic for their guests.
