Local Photographer Goes The Extra Mile For Keswick Guide

A stunning photo by local amateur photographer Rob Knowles, has been chosen by the Keswick Tourism Association (KTA) for the front cover of its 2023 Guide.

The KTA 2023 guide is now available to order, just in time for the Christmas break when many families sit down to plan their holidays for next year. Packed full of information and inspiration for visitors to the area, the guide also has a theme of sustainability running through it.

The image, taken in November, shows the town and lake hidden by a stunning cloud inversion and the photographer himself, along with his dog Rosie, in the foreground. Rob said, "I really wanted to 'get' the guide cover photo and had an idea of a photo from Latrigg looking over Keswick. I watched the weather and, on a day when a good sunrise was likely, I set off early in hope. Arriving at the summit, I was knocked out to witness a wonderful temperature inversion over the town and lake. I set up my tripod and using the self-timer, put myself and Rosie in shot, as I really wanted a figure looking into the view and we were totally alone. I got the shot on my second attempt and was very pleased with the result!"

Vanessa Metcalfe, KTA Tourism Manager said, “Choosing a guide cover is always a difficult task and can often take longer than writing the editorial content. Rob, who has allowed us to use his images in the past, had told me that he would love to have one of his pictures on the guide cover and when I saw this image, I knew that he had cracked it. It is so eye catching, and we know that it will make people want to pick up the guide and read it. We are so grateful to Rob for going out of his way to do this for us”
