'The Lost Spells', a brand-new musical for families adapted from the book by Robert Macfarlane and Jackie Morris, is coming to Theatre by the Lake in Keswick later this month.

A fun, wild and boisterous show full of paw-tapping music and dancing, ‘The Lost Spells’ is a riot of colour that celebrates the magic, power and wonder of nature.

Leading the cast is Miriam Nyarko who plays Jay, an actor and R&B singer-songwriter. Miriam made her West End debut at the age of 10 as Young Nala in The Lion King and has featured in many musicals and plays since. She's also known to TV audiences, starring in popular CBBC series 'Almost Never' and 'Marvel’s Moon Knight'.

She is joined by Alex Wingfield (Stick Man), Toby De Salis (Whistle Down the Wind), Paula James (Our Man in Havana), and Lucy Yates (Jonny Feathers the Rock and Roll Pigeon).

This new musical is adapted from the ‘cultural phenomenon’ and bestselling book that has delighted and inspired people of all ages, by globally renowned writer Robert Macfarlane and artist Jackie Morris, with music and lyrics by Mary Erskine and Will Dollard with the book by Matt Borgatti. Featuring original writing by Robert Macfarlane, directed by Andy Barry, design by Hannah Sibai, lighting design by Sherry Coenen, show artwork illustrations by Jackie Morris and show artwork designed by Rebecca Pitt.

The theatre will enjoy a special guest appearance from Jackie Morris, illustrator of 'The Lost Spells' book. Jackie will join for a post show discussion after the 2pm matinee performance on Thu 25 May.

There will be a opportunity for families to get involved in craft activities, where you can decorate your own tree and explore the beauty of the world around us, as well as song writing workshops for children and young people. The workshops will be about gathering inspiration from the natural world before exploring lyric, melody and chorus creation, recording voices and instruments.
