The Climbers... Lights, Camera, Action and Adventure

The Climbers cast are fully immersed in rehearsals but they managed to fit in a climb up Catbells, our local fell.

Director Guy Jones felt it was important that the cast of The Climbers experienced this quintessential Lake District adventure as part of their bonding and to help capture the spirit of this World Premiere production, which runs from 17 June - 16 July at Theatre by the Lake.

Receiving its World premiere in the adventure capital of England and reputed birthplace of the British rock-climbing movement, The Climbers is a mesmerising and thrilling exploration of the lure of the mountains, the drive to conquer and the price of staying alive.

Guy Jones, Director of The Climbers said  “All of my childhood holidays were here in the Lake District, and I was always taken to see whatever was on at the Theatre by the Lake, so the theatre played an important role in my falling in love with this artform. I was over the moon when Liz phoned me and said she also saw something in the play."

Meanwhile in the rehearsal room, characters are building, the plot is thickening and the scene is being set, literally. Photographer The Other Richard captured some of the key moments with the cast and creatives as they navigate this new play, a World Premiere, written by Carmen Nasr.
