Running Keswick the Lake District
From fell-running to forest tracks, lakeshore paths and parks all with fantastic views Keswick is a great place to run whatever terrain you prefer. If you enjoy running with other people we have not just one but three parkruns plus a wide range of sporting events.

Whinlatter Forest parkrun
a free, timed 5km run open to all abilities. Every Saturday at 9am in Whinlatter Forest. Spectacular views towards Derwentwater, a hilly course the most elevation gain of any parkrun in the UK. More info.
Keswick Junior parkrun
a weekly free 2k timed run for juniors only (4-14 year olds). Held every Sunday at 9am in Lower Fitz Park Keswick. More info.
Annual events include the Keswick Half Marathon, Derwentwater Ten, Lakeland Trails plus a choice of triathlons and duathlons. The annual Keswick Mountain Festival held in May offers a variety of running events. More info and what's on.
Whinlatter are shortly installing a permanent waymarked 5k run (the parkrun route) and a new 10k running route in the forest.
On Sunday 12th May, Whinlatter Forest will be hosting a 10k event as part of the Forestry 100 Running Series. As England’s only true mountain forest, hills are unavoidable on this 10km course. Aptly nicknamed ‘The Beauty and the Beast’, if you take on the challenge of Whinlatter Forest, you’ll be rewarded for your efforts with stunning views. More info.
