Threlkeld, Keswick
The village of Threlkeld is situated at the foot of Blencathra looking towards St John's in the Vale and Clough Head at the Northern end of the Helvellyn range.
The village is situated 3 miles east of Keswick, just off the A66 and 15 minutes drive from J40 of the M6. Threlkeld is an ideal base not only for exploring the Lake District but also for days out to Carlisle and the Eden Valley.
There are two pubs in the village and also one at Scales nearby where you can enjoy a drink or a traditional pub meal. Other facilities include a Newsagent and Post Office and a children's playground.
Threlkeld is on the X4/5 bus service which links Penrith, Keswick, Cockermouth and Workington. The nearest train station is at Penrith from where you can catch the X4/5 bus to Threlkeld. For bus timetables click here.
Threlkeld is is an ideal base for all types of leisure activities. It is close to Keswick Golf Club and has easy access to both Derwentwater and Ullswater for watersport enthusiasts. Threlkeld is on the route of the popular Coast to Coast (C2C) cycling route from Workington to Sunderland. There are plenty of opportunities for walking from ascents up Blencathra and Skiddaw to lovely low level and riverside walks. You can also walk or cycle along the former railway line from Threlkeld into Keswick.
