Our Guide to Choosing Accommodation in Keswick

When you visit Keswick for more than a day trip, you’re going to need somewhere to stay! There are lots of different types of accommodation available in Keswick, and what you choose will depend on your preferences.

We think there really is something for everyone though, whether you like to stay in swanky hotels, camping sites, or something in between.

In today’s blog, we’re going to be looking at the types of accommodation you can find in Keswick as well as some of the things you may want to look out for when you book.

Types of Accommodation

There are 8 main types of accommodation that you can choose from in Keswick and, for a small market town, we think that’s good going!

All of these options can be great, but it entirely depends on what you like and what type of holiday or stay you’re planning.

Keswick is home to a number of gorgeous hotels, including 4-star hotels with brilliant amenities such as a complimentary leisure club!

Static caravans can be really homely and often offer you the best of both worlds: all the best bits of staying in the countryside, whilst still giving you your home comforts.

Keswick has some wonderful, quality places for you to pitch up your tent or caravan and enjoy some great on-site amenities not to mention some fabulous views.

Guest Houses and B&Bs

A great benefit of staying at guest houses and B&Bs is that you’ll be staying with hosts who know all about the area! Not to mention you’ll get breakfast served to you every morning.

If you love to be out in the countryside and away from the buzz of towns, you may wish to stay on a farm. In Keswick, there are B&B and self-catering options when you choose to stay on a farm, but the one thing they all have in common is that the scenery is gorgeous!

For camping with a little bit more luxury, try staying in a yurt or a glamping pod. This is a unique experience, where you stay in a yurt with a stove and a lovely bed, or a glamping pod with electricity and lighting. Quirky and comfy, these are much-loved types of accommodation.

Catering for yourself can give you much more flexibility during your stay - you can buy food from our local shops or eat at our local restaurant… or both! If you’re looking for self-catering options, cottages, apartments, barns, and lodges, are all on the cards.

Ratings & Awards

Any accommodation provider featured on our website has either been assessed and approved by Quality Cumbria or the National Quality Assurance or havesigned the Keswick Tourism Association Quality Accommodation Charter

Looking at ratings and awards can be a good way to decide where to stay. Here’s what to look out for:

●AA Gold Stars are given as an accolade to the best guest accommodation venues that have 3, 4, or 5-star ratings

●The AA’s Red Stars are used to grade hotels, which gives them the award of being Inspector’s Choice

●Restaurants inspected by AA are given star ratings from 1-5 based on the quality of their food

●If you’re looking at accommodation that has a gold or silver star rating from Visit England, you know it’s a top-quality place to stay

●If a venue serves an exceptionally good breakfast, they may have been given a ‘breakfast award’ by AA or VisitEngland

Accessibility

Keswick offers a number of services to make it accessible for all visitors. Any type of accommodation you book should have an Access Statement which tells you about the accessibility services and amenities you can expect when you stay there. If you’re not sure if a venue is accessible for you, it’s always a good idea to ask in advance. Click here for details of accessible accommodation.
