Below are a few ideas for a perfect day out with your family exploring the wonders of Keswick.

Time At The park

Hope Park offers family fun with the highly popular 18 hole Crazy Golf course and remote controlled boats. This is all complimented with beautiful landscapes surrounding and the vibrant flower gardens and gentle stream.

Just by the lakeside is Crow Park which can accommodate all group sizes across the wide spread of grass. This is a superb location for a picnic.

Not far from the town centre is Fitz Park with magnificent views towards Skiddaw, with the River Greta running alongside. The park has a brilliant children’s playground as well as a multi-use games area. Cafe HNW in Upper Fitz Park offers tennis, bowls, table tennis and putting equipment for hire to have some competitive fun.

Take a Walk Along The Shores Of Derwentwater

An easy 1-2 hour lakeside walk takes you past Friars Crag and Calfclose Bay to Ashness Gate.

Friars Crag is a famous view point and is best visited on a sunny, clear day, providing a breathtaking view of the lake and the mountains that surround it.

Calfclose Bay offers stunning views across Derwentwater onto Catbells and the Centenary Stone Sculpture; a carved out boulder of volcanic rock from the Borrowdale Valley with unique designs engraved in. This is the perfect place for a picnic or even a paddle in the Lake.

From here you can either make your way back to Keswick or continue on to Ashness Gate ( approx 30 minute walk ) to catch the Keswick Launch back.
