New Chair For Keswick Tourism Association

At their February meeting, Keswick Tourism Association (KTA) elected a new Chair of the Board as Anne Cornthwaite, Chair for the past four years, stepped down.

Anne, who farms and runs a Bed and Breakfast business at Ashness Farm was an active Chair and could often to be found representing KTA at events or speaking to the press. During her four years in role, she has overseen improvements to the website, guide production and the creation of several promotional videos to name but a few achievements.

Talking about her time as Chair, Anne commented “I really enjoyed my time as chair of KTA although the last two years have been a challenge but thanks to the ongoing support of our members, the use of technology and our dedicated staff, Vanessa and Karen, we managed to weather the storm. Asking people in a television interview, back in the Spring of 2020, not to visit Keswick wasn’t something I ever thought I would have to do. Over recent years I have seen the board become more balanced, with representatives from activity providers, retail businesses and accommodation members and as we enter our centenary year, we aim to continue attracting more local businesses to join KTA. Together we have a stronger voice. It has been a privilege to Chair the board of directors and represent our members and I am looking forward to continuing to support KTA in my role as Director.”

Vanessa Metcalfe, KTA Tourism Manager thanked Anne for her hard work, dedication and support over the last four years and presented her with a bouquet from the Board and another small gift from the KTA staff.

Newly elected Chair, Peter Walter said “I’m very happy to take on this role in the KTA's 100th year. Keswick is as popular as ever, but businesses face many challenges. We want the KTA to support all tourism businesses in the town, help visitors make the most of their time here and promote sustainable tourism. We’ve got lots of exciting plans for 2022.
