National Trust Launches New Pocket Book To Guide & Inspire Walkers In Keswick & The North Lakes
With scenic lakes, valleys and mountain passes to explore, it’s no wonder that Keswick and the natural beauty that surrounds it, is close to the hearts of locals and visitors alike. For aspiring walkers as well as seasoned hikers, the National Trust has published a new pocket guidebook: “Keswick & The North Lakes: 10 Walks in Beautiful Places”.
With routes handpicked by our rangers in the Borrowdale & Buttermere Valleys, the book reflects the promise of the National Trust – “for everyone, for ever”. This guide hopes to inspire and motivate people to explore the nature, beauty and history of the area.
The 10 walks - which include favourites such as Brandlehow and Catbells, spectacular viewpoints like Surprise View, as well as hidden gems in Seatoller - feature simple, step-by-step directions and illustrated routes to follow, that will equip walkers with information on the beautiful vistas, history and local wildlife of which our local rangers are so proud.
Ranger Roy Henderson, whose expert local knowledge is shared within the book, says: “The book offers something for everyone – whether you’re looking for a challenging climb or simply wanting a stroll that takes in the tranquillity of the rivers and lakes, there’s a rich history and diverse wildlife to be explored in this region whichever route you choose. We’re excited to share places that we feel so passionate about.”
As the National Trust shares a love of nature and a passion for the great outdoors with Cotswold Outdoor, it’s natural for us to be working together. Through our partnership, we aim to inspire the nation to explore Britain’s incredible coast and countryside on foot – whatever the weather. Customers buying a pair of walking boots in the Keswick store, will receive a complimentary* copy of the walking guide (*while stocks last).
