Electric Bike 1 Day Core Skills

Cyclewise Whinlatter - Mountain Biking

Our Electric Bike 1 Day Core Skills course will teach you the basic MTB bike skills. Our aim is to get you out on the trails, tackling technical terrain with confidence and commitment. We have our very own coaching trail here in the Lake District where you can learn away from the actual trails, allowing for a great learning environment. Following training, you will see an immediate improvement in your riding and experience a boost in confidence. You’ll understand how changes in your body position, footwork and where you are looking, can affect the way your bike behaves on the trails. You will also leave with the ability to tackle steeper terrain, corner with greater control, and negotiate small trail obstacles with ease.

Course Content
Morning:

Bike Set Up – Getting the bike to work for you, looking at saddle, suspension and brake set up.

Weight Shift and the Cone of Movement – The bike moves, not you! Allowing freedom of movement is where riding really starts.

Braking–Most trail accidents we see at our Whinlatter trail centre are because of poor braking. With extra weight on an e-bike, it is absolutely critical that the knowledge of how and when to brake is 100% understood. This super powerful session is a game changer and a real highlight of the course.

Manual Front Wheel Lifts – The ability to lift the front wheel over an obstacle using body position and weight shift.

Afternoon:

Climbing–“Going up is the new going down” and the e-bike has changed climbing forever. For many, what was a dread of the sport is now sheer joy and exhilarating. Battery management, body positioning, line choice combined with the power of the e-bike are all aspects covered on this course.

Descending–The feeling of being free and fully in control of your bike whilst floating downhill is one of the best buzzes from biking. Many never feel this and are often at the other end of the spectrum, riding scared, stiff and with zero confidence. Almost waiting for it to go wrong! This course will break down descending into the individual elements and then combine them offering the ultimate descending confidence.

We also offer an Advanced Electric Bike Maintenance Course and Electric Bike Guided Rides. These rides usually run the day after our e-bike core skills course. This gives you the opportunity to take your new techniques out onto the natural terrain in the safe and capable hands of our experienced guides.

Instructor Ratio: 1:6 maximum – we keep our training ratios low to ensure our tutor can spend the time required with each person on the course.
