This June Trash Free Trails are collaborating with Ellis Brigham & KEEN on a series of clean-ups to get people outdoors and raising awareness of responsible hiking whilst cleaning up the trails.

Join us for our finale trail clean - a citizen science expedition on the hills around Keswick!

The Expedition will start off from the Ellis Brigham store in Keswick at 11am, before heading out on a 10km circular route along the River Greta, up onto the fells and back down into town again. Along the way we'll remove the trash we find, and learn how this simple action can contribute vital data to change policy and protect the places we love! We'll complete the day with a round of drinks on us at the local pub.

What's A Citizen Science Expedition?

These are free all day hikes with Trash Free Trails, where you remove rubbish, meet new people, and help gather invaluable data on single-use pollution. By taking part you'll gain firsthand experience of how you can remove, record and report vital data on terrestrial pollution, all while enjoying one of the UK's most beloved national parks.

Powered by Trash Free Trails’ innovative research into single-use pollution, The State of Our Trails Report, you'll learn about the power of 'citizen science' - that's science done by you, rather than bigwigs in lab coats! - to make change.

Citizen Science expeditions are family- and dog-friendly, but you are responsible for your dependents on the expedition. We'll be joined by a mountain leader to support with safe hiking and navigation.
