Inspired by the rich storytelling tradition in Cumbria, we wanted to capture people telling tales in and from their own corner of the county.

For the last year our Story Researcher, Hannah Fox, has been out and about across Cumbria, listening to people’s wild and wonderful local tales, and in our Tale Telt exhibition, people will share their stories with you in their own voices. Visit a bustling country show, a welcoming pub, and a chatty bus stop, listening in on a range of stories - from tall tales and local legends to modern fables and curious yarns - which capture the ever-evolving tradition of storytelling in our area.
