Details

Following on from my Nature Journal Workshops I am now turning my attention to the built environment.

What is an urban sketch? An urban sketch is a drawing created on location, indoors or out, capturing what the sketcher sees from direct observation. Urban sketchers use any kind of media to tell the story of their surroundings, the places they live, and where they travel. See: https://urbansketchers.org

What we will do is to take an accessible and approach to this method. Whilst we hope to sketch outdoors, (using the beauitful architecture around Greystoke village)  we will also finish off indoors. I will take you through the process I use for my own urban sketching which blends sketching outdoors with finishing off indoors.

I will show you some of my sketchbooks, materials and techniques and will be inviting you to develop your own style in order for you to develop your own Urban Sketching practice. If you have your own materials such as pens, paper and watercolours then bring these along.

I will also provide some materials to get you started:

Seawhite A5 Landscape Watercolour Travel Journal and 2 x fineliners plus I will have some sets of watercolours for shared use and will demonstrate my own fountain pens that I use myself for urban Sketching.

During the morning it is likely a Nature Jounralling workshop will be taking place.  Please see separate entry.
