Details

We are delighted to welcome back Sue Rowland, who will inspire you to create an original lino print featuring your favourite animal or bird, combined with pattern and foliage. In this class you will explore mark making, creating texture and learn the technique of chine colle. You will then produce a range of one colour and multicolour prints. The course will equip you with all the knowledge for hand printing at home.

Sue will provide all the materials you need such as lino, ink, printing paper, tracing, and carbon paper. This is included in the price of the class.

You are welcome to bring simple, bold drawings or pictures of animals, birds, butterflies, and foliage which would work at A4 size. Sue will also have plenty of ideas you can use.

Please bring a pencil, biro, masking tape, fine permanent pen, apron or old clothes, rubber gloves or vinyl gloves which are large enough so you can take them off and reuse easily.

Sue is an experienced tutor, who trained at Central St Martins School of Art and really enjoys passing on her enthusiasm for printmaking. Sue works between her studio in Kendal and her home in the beautiful Kentmere Valley. Sue’s illustrative folklore, landscape, and nature themed lino prints are part of the Great Print 8 exhibition in our Gallery our Rheged. (20 Jan – 14 May 22)

There is a lot of lino cutting which may not be suitable for people who struggle with their hands and wrists.
