Details

In this workshop you will be printing using a gelli plate and acrylic paints to create many multi layered images. You will be working with found natural materials such as ferns and leaves, as well as creating your own hand made stencils to act as resists. The prints are finished items, but you may also choose to collage them or add further detail using a range of media.

Gelli printing involves working on around six different prints at a time, working with resists and from a light colour through to darker colours. You will be able to work both on paper and also on fabric, which is ideal if you wish to embellish your print with stitch work. Be prepared to take home many prints! You will be cutting your own re-usable stencils and will also explore 'ghost prints' - especially when using plants as resists. There will be plenty of inspiration on hand, but please feel free to bring photographs or sketches as ideas if you wish, bearing in mind that recognisable silhouettes make the best prints when using a gelli plate. The plates are 15cm x 15cm.
