Direction

Threlkeld is located off the A66 in Cumbria, 4 miles west of Keswick and 13 miles east of Penrith. From Penrith, junction 40 on the M6, follow signs to Keswick and after 13 miles turn right into Threlkeld Village. Do not follow your Sat Nav after this point - the Village Hall is located 0.5 mile along on the left hand side. From Keswick follow signs to Penrith and after 4 miles take the first left signposted Threlkeld. The Village Hall is 0.5 mile along on the right hand side.

Details

Prelude have been touring since the 1970’s and originate from North East England. They are probably best known for their hits in the 70’s and 80’s with their unique acapella version of Neil Young’s song ‘After the Goldrush’, their own song ‘Platinum Blonde’, and their version of Roy Orbison’s ‘Only the Lonely’. They toured with Ralph McTell and provided the background vocals on his No1 hit, ‘The Streets of London’. They also toured with Joan Armatrading, Michael Chapman and Don McClean.

Prelude’s set list is a mixture of their own compositions and their favourite songs by the likes of Paul Simon, James Taylor, Neil Young etc Irene and Brian Hume are original members of the band. Irene is regarded and one of the finest female vocalist to come out of the North East of England, whilst Brian has written many of the group’s songs including ‘City Tonight’ and ‘Freedom’. In 2010, Paul Hooper joined as percussionist. Paul was drummer with The Fortunes who had numerous hits in the 60’s and 70’s and he toured the world with the band. Accomplished bass player Keith Tulip joined in 2012 and he gives a great jazzy feel to the group.

Prelude will be playing at Threlkeld Village Hall, CA12 4RX on Friday 1st April at 8pm.
