Make Tiffany style coloured Glass Christmas decorations with Lizzie Hippisley-Cox of Eden Stained Glass .... " Christmas Crackers"

Join Lizzie for a fun and festive day of mince pies, fresh coffee and discover the art of creating copper foil Stained Glass 'Christmas Crackers' each around 10cm long, to hang on your tree, fireplace or festive window this year. Or for a unique hand made Christmas gift for someone special! You should be able to make around 3 or 4 over the day, depending on how quickly you can work.

Lizzie will arrive with many carefully prepared templates and various colours of stained glass. Following her live streamed demonstrations projected onto a screen, you will start with cutting your chosen glass and then prepare each piece with copper foil edging. his ensures people stay well distanced and safe whilst watching instructions /demo from the safety of their desks.

Next you will move on to burnishing / preparing the glass, before each piece is edged with copper foil - just like the Tiffany Glass of the early C20th. After this comes the assembly stage which brings your pieces together by spot soldering, with a professional FFP3 mask (supplied in the materials package) before applying a final solder over the entire piece to ensure its integrity and bringing together the whole assembled piece, including an integral loop for hanging on your tree as required.

Please bring: If appropriate, don’t forget a good pair of glasses to enable close detailed work. Old shirt to work in. Please bring your own thin disposable gloves. Kindly note there will be a £15 materials charge payable directly to the tutor on the day, which includes a specialist mask. Typically this course runs with around 6 students. Suitable for all abilities. All equipment and tools will be provided.

A health and safety briefing will be given and the use of safety equipment (provided) will be required. Lead, lead solder and the fumes are toxic substances both to handle and to breathe in. Pregnant women are advised not to handle lead or breathe in fumes. PLEASE DO NOT WEAR OPEN-TOED SANDALS during this course. You are advised to moisturise your hands to minimise attracting splinters
