Details

Our women’s mountain bike skills course is ideal for those female mountain bikers who want to improve their own personal riding skills in a relaxed and friendly all-female environment.

This ladies-only mountain bike course covers all the core skills techniques required to be able to ride with confidence and control.

At the end of the course, you will be given personalised feedback (using video analysis where necessary) and given an action plan to help you improve further.

You will see instant results and the end of the course and will have the techniques in place to improve your riding even further with practice.

So what are the Core Skills?

The Biking Cone of Movement – The bike moves NOT you. Critical if you’re determined to become the boss of your bike.
Track Stands – The ability to balance, the most important skill to learn when it comes to riding a mountain bike.
Manual Front Wheel Lifts – The ability to lift the front wheel over an obstacle using body position and weight shift.
Power-assisted Front Wheel Lifts – The ability to lift the front wheel at slow speed over an obstacle whilst climbing.
Rear Wheel Lifts – The ability to lift the rear wheel over an obstacle. As well as the core skills, we give you a thorough breakdown and understanding of climbing, descending, and braking.

Course Content:

Bike Set-Up – Getting the bike to work for you, looking at the saddle, suspension and brake set up.
Weight Shift and the Cone of Movement – If you don’t allow movement you will fall off, this is where riding starts.
Climbing, Descending and Braking – Theory & Practical.
The Quercus Challenge – Summary of all skills coached during the morning session.

Once you have got to grips with the techniques on day 1 you will be given the opportunity to transfer these skills to the trail on day 2 under the guidance of our expert MTB coaches. Using video feedback (where necessary) we will show you where you are going wrong and right and show you how much more you can get from your biking with these skills in place.

Instructor Ratio: 1:6 maximum – we keep our training ratios low to ensure our tutor can spend the time required with each person on the course.

Course Venue: Whinlatter Forest Park
