Details

On this lovely combined baking day of Artisan Bread and Scone making you should be able to make three artisan bread recipes of your choice from the recipes provided as well as two Scone recipes, including if you wish a sourdough blackcurrant scone recipe.

Traditional hands on baking days with Gillian here in our Greystoke farmhouse kitchen are always busy and productive. Gill has been baking all her life and will teach you all she knows about both bread and scone making, ready to share many of her favourite recipes, hints and tips as well as providing all the ingredients. Generally the group starts by trying a farmhouse loaf together first before then choosing from a range of recipe options such as rustic soda bread, sun dried tomato and olive soda, perhaps foccacia, a granary cob or even pesto Parmesan buns. There will also be time to slot in a few Scone recipes along the way whilst you're waiting for your various breads to prove, and if it appeals there will be an option to try making a special sourdough scone at this stage. Baking will be done using the Cycle Cafe oil fired Aga and a special commercial fan oven we bring in for these classes.

By the end of this busy baking session you will have made much; please make sure you bring a generous bag or box in which to take your baking home in and ensure before you leave there will be room in your freezer. Next time you have guests, we hope you'll think nothing of rustling up a quick batch of scones for that perfect homely welcome.

Included are Welcome drinks : fresh coffee & home-made biscuits, a lovely 2 course Aga lunch served in our farmhouse kitchen.

Our days are considered special treats; many come back time and time again and often combine it with a short break to the Lake District.

We have been hosting and organising 'Quirky Workshops' since 2005 from our friendly family run Cycle Cafe Tea Garden on the northern fringes of the Lake District. All our tutors are carefully hand selected experts and professionals and many considered as leading nationally in their field.

Thank you,
