The Mount Self Catering

We are really proud to be one of the very few Sawdays holiday cottages in the Lake District! (Sawdays specialises in high-end, quirky listings with bags of personality and character!)

The Mount does a mix of self-catering and B&B across the year.

Our guests love The Mount - saying it is a real home-from-home. We try to create the perfect spot for a fantastic family holiday, or holiday with friends. There are many delightful period features in the house, such as the warm and cosy fireplace in the guest lounge. It is a loved, historic house with modern luxuries, such as great showers and Egyptain cotton sheets.

SELF CATERING:

For summer, Easter and Christmas / New Year weeks we offer the whole house on a self-catering basis. The property sleeps 10 with 4 double rooms, 1 twin room (all with ensuites). It is a perfect place for a large family group or a group of friends for a holiday let. You will have exclusive use of the lounge, dining room and kitchen (with aga and conventional oven). The house also has one cot and one high-chair.

The Mount inclusions:

Fabulous views
Lovely lounge, dining room and kitchen (with aga and conventional oven)
Free WiFi
Pretty garden with seating areas
Private parking at the rear of the property
Secure bike lock-up
One or two dogs are welcome by prior arrangement.

B&B

Our B&B accommodation includes 5 double rooms, (all with king and super-king beds and ensuites) and 1 Shepherd's Hut for a single guest (with its own private shower room in the main house).

The Mount’s B&B Accommodation includes:

Amazing views – all rooms have lovely lake or mountain views
Scrumptious breakfasts – with local produce and vegetarian options.
Guest lounge and garden – relax and enjoy the books and magazines
Free WiFi
Easy Free Parking at the rear of the property
Secure bike garage
Discounts at local attractions (such as The Theatre by the Lake and nearby boating activities).
There is an array of restaurants and pubs in the nearby Keswick, a fabulous gastro pub 10 minutes away The Pheasant Inn and in the village there is an excellent café The Chalet and a good local pub the Farmer’s Arms

Dogs are very welcome by prior arrangement in some of our rooms and in our Shepherd's Hut.

Portinscale is a delightful place for a Lake District holiday. The village is very close to Derwentwater (great for gentle lakeside walks and boating) and a short walk to Keswick, the centre of the beautiful Northern part of the Lake District. So it is easy to reach all the shops, cafes and theatre of Keswick, easy to get onto some good Lake District walks from Catbells to Barrow to Skiddaw – while enjoying the peace and charm of a Lakeland village – with some great cafes and pubs minutes away.

Wherever you look there are great views, Portinscale is a lovely spot for enjoying all the Lakes have to offer – walks, views, cycling, canoeing, cream-teas and good ales. Come and see!

Location

We are in the cente of Portinscale, just off the A66 from Keswick or Braithwaite. We are about half-way between the pub (The Farmers Arms) and the cafe (The Chalet).
