Rowling End and the Mouse House are situated in one of the Lake District’s most beautiful and tranquil valleys.
Rowling End is a traditional Lakeland farmhouse which can accommodate up to eight people. It has recently been restored and was awarded a Five Star Quality in Tourism rating in 2009/2010 with a GOLD AWARD in 2011/2012. The house is stylish and comfortable, with a large farmhouse kitchen and open fires.
The Mouse House is an idyllic retreat for two people. A detached stone barn dating from the days when Rowling End was a farm, it has been sympathetically developed as a one-bedroom cottage. It was awarded a Four Star Quality in Tourism rating in 2009/2010 with a GOLD AWARD in 2011/12.
These two self-catering properties have stunning views across the valley to Catbells and Maiden Moor. Whether you are looking to explore the high fells, lakes and valleys or simply wish to enjoy the dramatic landscape, Rowling End and the Mouse House provide the perfect starting point for your visit.
Beatrix Potter was a regular visitor to this area and her walks round the Newlands Valley inspired her to write The Tale of Mrs Tiggywinkle.
Renowned Lake District fell walker and writer Alfred Wainwright loved Newlands Valley too. He wrote: “More than 50 years have gone by since I first set eyes on Newlands and in all that time the valley seems not to have changed in any way.”
