Rowling End Farm Cottage is located at Rowling End Farm and is an idyllic retreat for up to five guests.  Sympathetically developed the Annex type cottage has been awarded a Quality Cumbria inspection and provides comfortable accommodation in a wonderful setting.
Lake Derwentwater is a pleasant fifteen minute walk away across the fields and from here you can catch the Keswick Launch to Keswick.  The cottage provides the perfect starting point for a number of Lakeland walks and whether you are looking to explore the hih fells, the lakes and valleys or simply wish to enjoy the stunning views, it is ideally situated.  Direct access to the fells and some of Wainwrigh`ts favourite walks – including Catbells, the Newlands round and the Coledale Round can be enjoyed directly from the Annex.
Dogs have always enhanced the owners family`s enjoyment of walking and you are very welcome to bring your own dog to share your holiday with you.
Braithwaite Village is only three miles from Rowling End Farm Cottage with three pubs and a general store, and just one mile across the field or down the lane there is the Swinside Inn which serves excellent food and drink.
Wainwright saw Newlands`s greatest blessing as the undisturbed peace and freedom from mass tourism and commercialisation and today the valley continues to enjoy a relaxed way of life that in essence has not changed over the years.. Rowling End itself was a working farm until the 1950s and the surrounding land still provides sheltered pasture for sheep and cattle from neighbouring farms.
Whilst Rowling End Farm Cottage is in a delightful secluded position, it is at the heart of the Northern Lakes and within easy distance of Borrowdale, Keswick, Derwentwater and Buttermere – whether by foot, car or bicycle.
Guests are able to enjoy the lovely peaceful grounds in which Rowling End Farm Cottage is set and which are home to red squirrels and deer.  There are three properties in the grounds and there is easy access straight onto the fells.  There is a picnic bench on the terrace, for guests to enjoy the views.

Location

To find Rowling End exit junction 40 and proceed along the A66 towards Keswick. Bypass Keswick and take the left turning to Portinscale/Newlands Valley, continue through the village of Portinscale past the marina. After approx 1.5 miles turn right towards Swinside/Stair/Newlands Valley/Buttermere. Go through Stair and past Stair Mill on your right and go up the hill across the cattle grid until you come to Ellas Crag Guest House on your left follow the road which leads you to Buttermere just on your left you will see a gate with a sign on for Rowling End go down the private drive and Rowling End The Annexe is on your right.
