The Lookout

Welcome to The Lookout, quality ensuite guest house offering B and B accommodation in Keswick, with superb panoramic mountain views.

The Lookout has undergone total renovation and redesign from its 1920’s origin yet retained the charm of the original building. We have created 3 contemporary and very comfortable bedrooms with modern stylish spacious ensuites. No clutter. We have used slate or marble in the bathrooms which all have top quality glass walled showers and a brand new up to date powerful plumbing system! Room 1 with bath too. Beds are kingsize with a very comfortable quality Sealy mattress with pillow topping. Duvets are down and feather. Some lovely elm and oak timber has been used and all rooms have two comfy chairs and are decorated in warm Farrow and Ball tones. Samsung LCD TV’s, hairdryers and clock radios in all rooms and from this year rooms now have silent mini fridges.  There is a large balcony with tables and chairs for all from which to watch the sunset or just enjoy the fabulous views. Relax over your choice of breakfast in the dining room with that perfect view. Local produce used where possible.

We have ample private easy parking for all guests.  Free wifi.

Outside is a lovely garden with plenty of seats to catch the sun or listen to the stream tumbling past. Watch out for dragonflies in the summer by the pond and in the winter in particular, it is a good garden for bird watching with regular visits from yellowhammers, nuthatches, finches and long tailed tits. In front of the garden is a field in which we regularly watch the kestrel hovering and hunting and buzzards calling overhead.

The Lookout is non smoking throughout including balconies.

We are located about 15 minutes walk from the town centre.

Location

We are only a 15 minute walk from Keswick town centre. You can walk into town along the railway footpath. Plenty of walks start from the house.

Arriving from the south on the A591 we are situated about ¾ of a mile before the town centre on the left hand side – a short distance before the junction signed for Penrith.
Arriving from the south or north on the M6, leave at junction 40 and follow signs for Keswick. Take the first exit for Keswick. At the T junction turn left. We are on the right about 150m further on.
Coming from Keswick town centre, drive south along Penrith Road which leads up to Chestnut Hill. We are ¾ mile from the town on the right just past the junction to Penrith.
Nearest main line train station is Penrith. There is a regular bus service X4/X5 from the station into Keswick.
Service 555 from Kendal to Keswick stops just 100m past the house.
