The King's Head

A former seventeenth century coaching inn situated at the foot of Helvellyn in the heart of the Lake District, the Kings Head is surrounded by spectacular scenery with unsurpassed views towards St John's inWe offer seventeen en suite bedrooms comprising of doubles, twins, single and family rooms, all with views of the surrounding fells.

The Kings Head offers two unique dining experiences, both offering Traditional English dishes and local specialties created from the finest local produce. In our award winning St Johns restaurant, our Head Chef presents a creative four course seasonal menu, whilst in our recently refurbished Bar Restaurant we serve a range of traditional favourites. Our bar offers local real ales, fine wines and a range of malt whiskies.

The Kings Head now boasts a Lakeland Produce Store offering a wide range of local food, drinks and gifts from the finest Cumbrian producers
the Vale, Blencathra and Skiddaw.

Location

The Kings Head enjoys an idyllic setting at the foot of Helvellyn, near the shores of Lake Thirlmere, in the heart of the Lake District National Park.  Keswick and Grasmere are both only a stone throw away, which makes The King's Head an ideal base.

By Car
From the North: Exit the M6 at junction 40 and take the A66 toward Keswick. Before Keswick turn onto the A591 toward Windemere. The Kings Head is located 6 miles South of Keswick on the A591.

From the South: Exit the M6 at junction 36 and take the A590 toward Windemere and the A591. Continue to Thirlmere and The Kings Head is located 20 miles to the North of Windemere on the A591.
