Link House is a late Victorian Country Guest House, situated on the edge of Bassenthwaite Lake, near the Cumbrian towns of Keswick and Cockermouth, with stunning views of both forests and fells. Traditionally built in the late Victorian age, this country house enjoys stunning views of the forest and surrounding fells including the 3046 feet Skiddaw. The sunny aspect gives a warm and comfortable atmosphere in which to relax and feel at home.
Link House is in the quieter part of the Lake District National Park, yet with access to many interesting places to visit such as the Whinlatter Visitor Centre and Dodd Wood where the Ospreys who nest nearby each year, can be viewed. It makes an ideal base for walkers, cyclists, sailors (500 metres to Bassenthwaite Sailing Club), wedding guests ( just 1.5/2 miles from Armathwaite Hall and the Castle Inn), or anyone attending courses at Higham Hall.
A peaceful location for the serious walker or cyclist or for touring by car: everyone claims that, but here it’s true!
Location
We are situated just off the A66 at the northern tip of Bassenthwaite Lake; approx 8 miles from the popular tourist town of Keswick and 5 miles from the old market town of Cockermouth, birthplace of William Wordsworth and the oldest town in Cumbria.
From the M6, juction 40, take the A66 west towards Keswick. Continue on the A66 towards Cockermouth, with Bassenthwate Lake on your right.
At the far end of the lake is a short stretch of dual carriageway. Take the first right after the dual carriageway (signed to Castle Inn) and follow this road as it bears round to the left. You will see Link House on the right hand side.
