Lairbeck Hotel is set in a quiet, secluded location only ten minutes walk into Keswick centre (and a further 5 minutes to the Lake and the Theatre). Share an acre of attractive, well-maintained gardens with red squirrels and hedgehogs. Magnificent views of Skiddaw, Causey Pike and the Borrowdale Valley will call you to leave your car in the spacious car park and enjoy one of the many walks right from Lairbeck’s doorstep. Treat yourself to award-winning, honest country cooking in the friendly, informal atmosphere of our dining room. On cold nights settle down in front of a log fire and select a walk from a compilation by ‘Tommy’, our very own Wainwright specialist.
We aim for a welcoming informality with high standards of quality and hospitality.
These are just a few of our guest comments in 2008:
“Very welcoming, very peaceful,” Sunderland.
“Beautiful hotel with excellent service and hosts,” Ontario, Canada.
“The warm atmosphere and exceptional service in the hotel left nothing to be desired. Our thanks to you all.” Huddersfield
“Excellent food & hosts,” Scarva, N. Ireland.
“Great place to stay” Whitby, New Zealand
“Lovely hosts, excellent food has made this a most memorable holiday. Look forward to returning” Scotland
As soon as you enter the main hall you can sense the relaxed, family atmosphere of one of Keswick's finest Victorian country houses. In recent years, many features of the original house have been lovingly restored, such as the magnificent barley-twist staircase and galleried landing, which give the hall its prestigious feel and warmth. On the landing is a collection of old photographs donated by the Anderson family, evoking memories of their days at Lairbeck.

In the comfort of the lounge bar, you can reflect upon the events of the day, plan for tomorrow or simply relax and absorb the quiet atmosphere of the house. An unusual feature of the lounge is the window framing a dramatic view of Skiddaw over the marble fireplace.

Hospitality, comfort and relaxation are all vital ingredients of the Lairbeck experience. Many of our guests, captivated by the timeless ambience of this stylish old house, return time-and-time again.

Lairbeck has fourteen bedrooms including superior rooms, a four-poster room, two ground-floor rooms, four single rooms and one family room.
Most rooms have superb mountain views or overlook the garden with its giant redwood tree and lush green lawn. The hotel is strictly non-smoking. All rooms have either a bathroom or shower room en suite, and have been individually decorated to enhance their charm and character.
Each room has kept the name given to it by the Anderson family.
