Jenkin Hill Cottage Guest House

Jenkin Hill Cottage is a quality, small guest house offering a personal, informal and friendly service with optional evening meals.

There are two fully equipped guest bedrooms,

• one double with en-suite bathroom consisting of bath with shower over, wash basin, WC and bidet
• one flexible room which can be set up as a super-king double or as a twin and has an en-suite with walk-in shower, WC and washbasin.

The beds are very comfortable and the rooms well furnished. Both enjoy views over our award winning gardens and  the slopes of Thornthwaite Forest.

Excellent home cooked food is served in our spacious dining room where we can cater for all dietary requirements, including gluten free. If you love wildlife then you will enjoy the wide variety of birds and the red squirrels that visit our garden. The osprey nesting site is nearby, and a public hide beside Bassenthwaite Lake provides good views of waterfowl - and otters if you are lucky!

VisitBritain (formerly the English Tourism Council) has awarded Jenkin Hill Cottage a Silver Award for excellence in each year since 1999, and the cottage has once again been visited by a hotel inspector and assessed as Four Stars with a Silver Award for 2011/12.

Thornthwaite
The peaceful Lakeland village of Thornthwaite is situated between the western edge of Whinlatter Forest and Bassenthwaite Lake. Thornthwaite is the ideal location for a restful holiday with lovely scenery and good walking routes. Yet this is only 3 miles from the attractions of Keswick and 8 miles from Cockermouth.

To find us
To the west of Keswick off the A66, follow signs to Thornthwaite and Gallery. Continue along road for about 1 mile. Once in the centre of the village we are the first house on the right, 200 yards past a bus shelter and telephone box. There is a sign by our car park.
