Borrowdale Hotel

Nestled at the foot of Shepherd's Crag in the beautiful valley of Borrowdale, this hotel has a totally unique atmosphere enveloping the visitors from the moment they arrive. Warm and welcoming fires in the Winter and cool drinks and strawberry teas on the lawns in the Summer served with a smile.

Built in 1866 the Borrowdale Hotel has an interesting history with the original 41 room bells, which, although no longer working, are still proudly displayed outside the reception area.
The resturant has been refurbished to a very high standard and is very elegant and comfortable . It also now boasts a superb walk in wine cellar stocked with some very interesting bottles.
During the day the lounge bar and conservatory are open for light lunches and afternoon teas and in the evening a splendid 4 course silver service dinner can be enjoyed in the restaurant with coffee and mints served in the lounges.

The corridors have just been refurbished with new carpets and wallpaper and most of the rooms have been refurbished

The 36 cosy bedrooms all have TV, telephone and hospitality tray and whether you are looking to book a romantic break staying in one of the luxury refurbished rooms, a family holiday with the children, an energetic break walking with your dog or just of couple of relaxing days, there are rooms to suit all.

If you are arriving or leaving on a Sunday make sure not to miss the famous Sunday lunch - it is well worth trying, but remember to book your table well in advance, as it is particular popular with both locals and residents.

Location

Leave the M6 at jct 40 at Penrith and turn onto the A66. Follow the A66 to Keswick then take the B5289 to Borrowdale, with the lake on the right. The hotel is on the left, 4.5 miles from Keswick. The nearest train station is Penrith.
