Why not plan a break around one of our regular events and festivals?  Traditional local shows take place in the valleys whilst the bigger events such as the Keswick Mountain Festival and Keswick Jennings Jazz Festival bring colour and excitement to the town.  More details of these events can be found on www.keswick.org/whats-on/festivals/

The 14th Keswick Film Festival - 21-24 February - an amazing Film Festival showing at both the Theatre by the Lake and the Alhambra Cinema in Keswick. Watch out for some tempting competitions for this festival on www.keswick.org!

1-10 March - Words by the Water - for 10 days, writers and readers get together to share the pleasure of books, words and ideas in this exciting literature festival. Keep an eye out for the programme on www.keswick.org.

23rd March - 20th April - Theatre by the Lake Spring Play, Rogue Herries.

St Georges Day on 21st April is a fun day in Keswick with a Church Service, parade, brass band and market stalls.

9-12 May is the 22nd Jennings Keswick Jazz Festival - a four day festival bringing together many of the world's finest exponents of mainstream and traditional jazz. Over 100 jazz events hosted by a dozen different venues, all covered by the festival's pass.

15-19 May is the Keswick Mountain Festival - all that we love about the outdoors is celebrated here in five fantastic days packed full of adventure outdoor activities and talks.

25th May - 9th November - Six Summer plays at Theatre by the Lake - see the schedule on www.keswick.org

31 May and 1st June for the Bassenthwaite Festival - beautiful music in a beautiful location - St Bega's Church.

7-8 June - the 17th Keswick Beer Festival - need we say more? Tickets are already on sale for this - www.keswickbeerfestival.co.uk.

30th June - Keswick Midsummer Festival - Music; strolling performers, children's entertainment, climbing wall, fairground rides, food stalls.  Events start at 11.30am until 6.30pm. www.keswick.org

13 July - 2 August - Keswick Christian Convention organised by Keswick Ministries combining the convention with the chance to relax and enjoy the wonder of the Lake District

13th -14th July - West Cumbria Game Fair - Armathwaite Hall

3 August - Cockermouth Agricultural Show - the first of the Lakeland shows kicks off with entertainment for everyone.

1st September - Loweswater Show - a very traditional show with Cumberland and Westmorland wrestling a highlight.

15th September - Borrowdale Shepherd's Meet & Show - fell races, sheep shearing and terrier competitions.

15th September - The Jennings River Ride.  It’s actually a series of three bike rides which start and finish in Keswick. It is not all about cycling as there’ll be a Family Fun Day in Fitz Park, Keswick at the start / finish point of the event.

26th October - Buttermere Shepherds Meet & Show - the last of the shows for the year with very traditional sports featuring.

9th November (provisional) - the hugely popular Vintage Sports Car Club Lakeland Trials - over 100 vintage sports cards from the 1920's and 30's converge on Honister Slate Mine.

8th November - Keswick Christmas Lights Switch on - with full entertainment.

1st December - The Keswick Victorian Fayre - with a host of decorated charity stalls and street entertainment.
