Celebrate the New Year with locals and visitors alike as they assemble just before midnight in Keswick’s Market Square. Count down the seconds to midnight with our Countdown Clock
before the traditional renditions of “Auld Lang Syne”
27 FEBRUARY - 2 MARCH - THE 15TH KESWICK FILM FESTIVAL

7 - 16 MARCH - WORDS BY THE WATER LITERATURE FESTIVAL
Theatre by the Lake is the centre for this exciting literature festival organised by Ways with Words. For 10 days, writers and readers get together to share the pleasure of books, words and ideas.
18 - 21 APRIL - EASTER WEEKEND
An “eggs-ceptional” weekend of Easter themed events in the area.
4 MAY - KESWICK HALF MARATHON & FUN RUNS
Keswick Half Marathon is said to be one of the most scenic half marathons in the country. The challenging course takes you around Derwentwater with an extra loop into Newlands Valley. Come and take part in this very popular annual event.
8 - 11 MAY - THE 23RD JENNINGS KESWICK JAZZ FESTIVAL
The four day festival will once again bring together many of the world’s finest exponents of mainstream and traditional jazz. Impressive international acts will rub shoulders with a glittering array of Britain’s top jazz musicians. The programme will see over 100 jazz events hosted by a dozen different venues, all covered by the festival’s pass.
10 MAY - KESWICK TO BARROW WALK
A 40 mile sponsored walking and running event to raise money for charities and good causes.
14 - 18 MAY - KESWICK MOUNTAIN FESTIVAL
The Keswick Mountain Festival celebrates everything we all love about the outdoors. The festival offers five fantastic days packed full of adventure, outdoor activities and great outdoor brands. Visitors can get involved in activities such as ghyll scrambling, mountain biking, guided walks, map
reading, canoeing, climbing and lots more. Those who fancy a challenge can take part in a festival sporting event such as the triathlon, trail race, sportive, fell race, mountain bike challenge or wild swim.
25 MAY - JENNINGS RIVERS RIDE
The Jennings Rivers Ride was launched in 2011 as a new cycle sportive challenge. The event includes four stunning bike routes which cater for cyclists of all abilities. The aim of the event is to raise much needed funds to support the charitable work of Cumbria Community Foundation.
30 -31 MAY - BASSENTHWAITE FESTIVAL
A weekend of music in the most beautiful of locations – St Bega’s.
6 - 7 JUNE - THE 18TH KESWICK BEER FESTIVAL
The 2014 event will be the 18th Keswick Beer Festival. From humble beginnings in 1997 the festival has grown into an event attracting nearly 6000 beer enthusiast over two days. Over 250 barrels of beer, lager and cider will be available to sample and live bands will provide the entertainment.
22 JUNE - DERWENT EPIC SWIM
The Derwent Epic Lakes Swim Series consists of 3 open water swim events distances to choose from which provides novices, intermediates and elite swimmers with a challenge to match.
22 - 29 JUNE - KESWICK A MIDSUMMER FESTIVAL
A week long event celebrating local communities and groups, starting and ending with a festival.
22 JUNE - 3RD ANNUAL PUDDING FESTIVAL

12 JULY - 1 AUGUST - KESWICK CHRISTIAN CONVENTION
Keswick Ministries organise the annual Keswick Convention, which has been taking place since 1875. It offers something for everyone – life changing bible teaching, worship and fellowship,
with separate Kids and Youth programmes, all combined with the chance to relax and enjoy the wonder of the Lake District.
2 AUGUST - COCKERMOUTH AGRICULTURAL SHOW
Entertainment for everyone in this action packed day for all the family. BSJA show jumping, cattle, sheep, poultry… even ostriches!
2 - 10 AUGUST - BASSENTHWAITE REGATTA
Bassenthwaite’s annual Regatta Week offers wonderful sailing in a great family environment and in a setting of unrivalled natural beauty. Bass week is a family regatta which ranks amongst the most popular open events in the north of England.
AUGUST - DERWENTWATER REGATTA
Derwent Water Regatta was started by the eccentric landowner Joseph Pocklington (alias King Pocky) in the 1790s and has now been revived. A weekend of mayhem and madness afloat, with the chance to climb aboard in a variety of races on Derwent Water.
25 AUGUST - KESWICK AGRICULTURAL SHOW
Keswick Agricultural Show is traditionally held on August Bank Holiday Monday at the western edge of the town and features both commercial and charity stands. The show attracts large numbers of competitors, exhibitors and spectators, and is a great day out for all the family.
6 SEPTEMBER - DERWENTWATER TRAIL RACE
Now in its 8th year, the 15km Derwentwater Trail (Race and Challenge) follow well marked and marshalled courses through some of the most dramatic mountain scenery in the Lake District. The route takes in panoramic views of Derwentwater, the surrounding peaks of the Skiddaw and Blencathra range, and the northern lakeland fells. A shorter distance 10km takes place in the
morning, for those wanting a shorter option.
7 SEPTEMBER - LOWESWATER SHOW
A more traditional style agricultural show with the emphasis on livestock. However, there are many other attractions, all with a local theme. There are fell races for all ages, Cumberland and Westmorland wrestling, a superb local craft fair and a variety of trade stands. The recently added vintage section has proved to be a great success.
25 OCTOBER - BUTTERMERE SHEPHERD’S MEET & SHOW
A traditional local show featuring sheep shows, dog shows, crafts and stalls, fell races, Cumberland and Westmorland wrestling, and the obligatory beer tent!
2 NOVEMBER - DERWENTWATER TEN
A spectacular 10 mile road race run clockwise round Derwentwater. Undulating rather than hilly this course is one of the most scenic road races in the country especially at this time of year when the Autumn colours are at their peak.
NOVEMBER - THE VINTAGE SPORTS CAR CLUB LAKELAND TRIALS
The Vintage Sports – Car Club – for people with cars built before 1931 – holds its hugely popular Lakeland Trials event with a 10am start. Over 100 vintage sports cars from the 1920’s and
30’s converge on Honister Slate Mine in a throwback to the golden age of motoring.
21 NOVEMBER - KESWICK CHRISTMAS LIGHTS SWITCH ON

7 DECEMBER - THE KESWICK VICTORIAN FAYRE
With lots of decorated charity stalls and a host of street entertainment, the Victorian Fayre is part of the festive season in Keswick. The Christmas tree and shops are festooned with colourful
lights, and equally colourful local characters provide entertainment. The event is an occasion not to be missed.
