New Programme for 2018 in Threlkeld

Threlkeld Activities Association (TAA) has announced the first part of their programme of music, drama and film for 2018. Barbara Lowesmith of the TAA said “The programme in 2017 was well-received with audience sizes generally increased and several events completely sold out, so we are hoping that our programme in 2018 will also appeal to our customers with a wide variety of music, drama and film”.

After the success of a sing-along Mamma Mia in January 2017, the 2018 programme also starts with a Sing-Along film – this time Sound of Music on Sunday 14th January at 4pm. To make an occasion of it, Soup and Strudel will be served in a mid-film interval, plus mulled wine. It’s a great way of having fun on a dark January Sunday afternoon! Some people even dress up! February sees the start of the music programme with a classical concert by the Gjylaci Duo, featuring violinist Nikolas Gjylaci (who was well received when he performed in Threlkeld in 2017 as part of the Northern String Quartet)together with his brother, who is a classical guitarist. In March there will be a film night featuring North by Northwest and in April Country/Blues singers the Hayley Sisters from Yorkshire will take to the stage. As previously, St Mary’s church and the TAA will be holding ceilidh with Travelling Light during Christian Aid week in May, then, by popular demand, Morecambe Brass Band will be returning in June and the first half of the year finishes with another superb folk act - McCusker & Talbot. The second part of the year is not yet finalized but is expected to feature some Jazz (Nicola Farnon), folk, 2 films, a hopefully a drama. Plus of course a Craft Fair in November. Full details of all events and how to buy tickets can be found on-line at www.threlkeldvillagehall.org/whats-on.
