Keswick Victorian Fayre
The Keswick Victorian Fayre will take place on Sunday 7th December 2014 at 11.30am.
A great day out for all the family in Keswick Town centre from 11.30am onwards.
With lots of decorated charity stalls and a host of street entertainment the Fayre, with the Christmas tree and shops festooned with colourful lights, and equally colourful local characters providing entertainment, is an occasion not to be missed.
This year sees the 26th anniversary of the Keswick Victorian Fayre which first began in 1988 and since that time has taken place on the first Sunday in December. Organised by representatives from Keswick Lions Club, Keswick and Bassenthwaite Rotary Clubs, Keswick Inner Wheel, Keswick Tourism Association and other local volunteers, the Fayre provides stalls for local organisations and charities to raise funds for their own specific good causes.
None of the stalls are commercial and the event itself is run on a non-profit making basis. Stalls are only available for charities and for good causes such as local Schools, Scouts, Guides etc. Entertainment is provided throughout the day including street theatre and there is also a small funfair for young children and a Santa's Grotto. Some 20-30 stalls provide seasonal food, raffles, tombolas, crafts and gifts.
Carol singing takes place in the Market Square and there is a carol concert at St John's Church at 4.30pm.
