Details

A day with Gwen Bainbridge - a very talented ceramics artist creating textured tiles of sizes to suit your need. Whether to be incorporated in a kitchen wall setting, combined as a Triptych or simply to use as single tile decorations or coaster is your choice. There are multiple uses.

Designs and shapes can be drawn freehand, layered, pressed and imprinted. Cutters could also be used. Gwen will bring a selection, but do bring your own special shape cutters if you have a particular interest or need (bicycles etc). If you would like to incorporate pressed flowers and leaves shapes & patterns into your tile these work best when dried and flat. Once you decide you wish to come on this course pick and press your flowers and bring carefully on the day within the book. Lavender and daisy, ivy leaves, wild strawberry, small leaved geranium all work well.

Colours and definitions may be applied using the same techniques as the Bud Vases course above. Ideas for triptychs (a picture on three panels) are limitless : seasons, flowers, leaves, childrens’ book characters, animals, birds, numbers, stories etc etc. You could even pre- prepare some lino cut panels to use as a porcelain template and bring these along if required.
