Doug Scott tells the legendary tale of tackling the Ogre, the most difficult of the world’s high mountains to climb. In 1977 Doug Scott and Chris Bonington made the first ascent; their subsequent descent, in the dark, immediately became a battle for survival. Abseiling off the summit tower, Doug slipped and swung into the cliff he had just climbed, breaking both legs – and shortly after, a storm blew in. Their escape is one of mountaineering’s greatest epics.
