Keswick plays host to a variety of festivals not just during the summer but throughout the year.
The Words by the Water Festival features a full programme of literary events, work shops, talks and book launches. Speakers from the worlds of literature, politics, radio and tv assemble on the shores of Derwentwater to share books, words and ideas. Film buffs have the choice of over 20 films in one weekend at the Keswick Film Festival. With festival passes for the weekend available or tickets for individual films there's sure to be something to suit every taste. The Keswick Jazz Festival features national and international artists in over 100 different jazz events in various venues around the town. The Keswick Beer Festival is a very popular event and has rapidly become the largest in the North of England. Late summer is the time for the local agricultural shows including Keswick, Buttermere, Borrowdale, Loweswater and Hesket Newmarket.
