Ireby

Once a thriving market town, with the market cross believed to date back to 1200, reby is a peaceful unspoilt village situated in the fells to the north of Keswick in the area known as 'Back o' Skidda'.

The hills behind Skiddaw and Blencathra are excellent walking country. These gently undulating lowland fells are amongst the quietest and most unspoilt in the Lake District offering magnificent views of the surrounding fells. The peaks of Great Calva and Knott look down on the village. It is an excellent base for those wanting to tour the North Lakes aswell as enjoy days out to the Solway Coast, the City of Carlisle, Hadrian's Wall and the Scottish Borders.

The traditional village pub The Lion serves food and offers a takeaway service.
